No, we’re aiming to strike a balance between providing structure and giving you flexibility. The goal is to make courses more focused and efficient without removing valuable options. You’ll still have the chance to choose optional modules and explore your interests.

Students play a key role in co-creating the curriculum alongside staff and external stakeholders. This collaborative approach values student insight to ensure that programmes are inclusive, future-focused and aligned with real-world expectations.  Students co-create through participation in workshops and student engagement sessions, surveys, focus groups and platforms like MyUniVoice. Students are also represented on Boards of Studies and involved in reviewing teaching, assessment and feedback practices. These opportunities help shape meaningful change, foster a sense of belonging and ensure the curriculum reflects the diverse needs and priorities of the student community.

We’re reviewing how assessments are structured to make sure they are balanced and meaningful. Over time, the number of assessments has increased, which has put unnecessary pressure on students. We’re working to:

• Avoid over-assessment – Reducing excessive assessments so you can focus on learning.
• Spread assessments out more evenly – Making sure deadlines don’t all come at once.
• Make assessments more meaningful – Focusing on assessments that genuinely reflect what you’ve learned.

Yes. Sustainability, ethics, and the climate emergency are key themes in Curriculum Transformation. We’re adding these into courses to make sure you:

• Understand the challenges facing society and the planet.
• Develop skills that will help you contribute to solutions in your future career.
• Are prepared to work in industries where sustainability is becoming increasingly important.

Inclusivity is a major focus of Curriculum Transformation. We want all students to feel supported and valued. This means:

• Making sure teaching, materials, and assessments are accessible to everyone.
• Reflecting the diverse backgrounds and needs of students in course content.
• Providing more support where needed to help every student succeed.

A suitable alternative module will be identified to ensure that you cover the relevant subject knowledge and receive appropriate credit.

No, you will only need to pay the module fee for the original module you failed.

You will need to complete the attendance and assessment requirements of the new module. However, the university will seek to ensure that this does not have a negative impact on your outcomes.
