Important: Attendance at Welcome Week Events

We look forward to meeting you in Welcome Week. There is a varied programme of events throughout the week, which we hope will inform and motivate you as you begin your programme of studies. You’ll also have plenty of opportunities to socialise with your course mates and learn about the support available to you while you study.

Your Welcome Week timetable is below, and we encourage you to get involved in as many of these activities as possible. Sessions which are compulsory for new students are noted on the timetable. Please note that this is different from your teaching timetable, which will take effect when lectures begin on Monday 27th September.

Welcome Message from your Department

Congratulations on your recent results and on being accepted to study Mathematics at Swansea University.  We are very much looking forward to meeting you and welcoming you into the Mathematics community here. 

We hope you are equally looking forward to starting your course, your time as a Swansea student, and the next stage of your life journey. We have been developing lots of new tools and techniques to give you a great learning experience, and we can't wait to share these with you.

Induction timetable 2026

Monday 21st September

This timetable is relevant to students beginning Year 0 (Foundation) or Year 1 in Applied Mathematics, Mathematics, Mathematics and Computer Science, Mathematics and Sport Science, Mathematics for Finance or Pure Mathematics or Year 1 in Actuarial Science

11:30 – 13:00 - Foundation (0), Year 1 and MSc Departmental Welcome Talk - 002, Computational Foundry

Meet your student course mates for the first time along with Key Academic Staff from your Department who will introduce your programme of study, provide you with key academic information and direct you to useful course resources.

12:30 – 16:00 - Reps & Society Drop In – 320 (Mathematics Reading Room) , Computational Foundry

Pop in to the Mathematics Reading Room - a chance to familiarise yourself with this key study space, meet your School Rep, and find out about the Mathematics society.
