We hope you’re enjoying your summer! It won’t be long until you join us, and we’re really looking forward to welcoming you to our beautiful campuses.

To help you settle in and make the most of your time here, we’ve put together a guide to the support and activities available. Whether you’re looking to stay healthy, take care of your wellbeing, manage your finances, succeed in your studies, or make new friends, there are teams and resources ready to help.

Making Friends

There are loads of ways to meet new people at university. From joining societies and sports clubs, all the way to volunteering with local charities! Creating a support network is a great way to improve your mental health and wellbeing - you can even chat to likeminded students through UniBuddy!

Keeping Fit and Active

Participation in sport and keeping an active lifestyle can offer many health and wellbeing benefits, such as making friends, trying new experiences, and keeping fit and healthy both physically and mentally.

With more than 55 sports clubs to choose from and excellent facilities on both campuses, we offer everything you need for a healthy, active lifestyle.

If you’re just looking to make friends and stay fit and healthy in the process, our accessible and inclusive Get ACTIVE programme offers a variety of fun activities and taster sessions to support positive mental health and wellbeing.

Support available to you

Welfare and personal support

Our team of welfare specialists offer practical advice, guidance, and access to support. They work closely with university staff and external partners to ensure you’re supported throughout your studies.

Financial advice and support

Our Money Advice Team is here to help you manage your finances. They offer guidance on student funding, budgeting, and financial hardship, and can also support students with additional considerations such as care leavers, carers, estranged students, or those who are pregnant.

Faith and reflection

Our faith support team provides multi-faith spaces on both campuses, as well as services like meditation, bereavement support, and a confidential Listening Service.

Support for care leavers and estranged students

Dedicated support is available for care leavers and students estranged from their families. This includes help with accommodation, finances, and academic life so you can make informed decisions and feel confident in your university journey.

Wellbeing and Disability service

The Wellbeing and Disability Services provides advice, guidance, practical and emotional support to students with:

  • Physical or sensory disabilities
  • Long-term medical conditions

  • Mental health conditions

  • Specific Learning Differences (SpLDs)

  • Autism Spectrum Conditions

The team provide advice about the reasonable adjustments available to you, to help minimise the impact your condition can have on your academic studies, and help you get the most out of your time in Swansea.

They can help students apply for Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA), and connect with counselling or mentoring services. You can find a range of specialist services to support you here.

How do I request support?

If you feel that you need support from the Wellbeing and Disability Service, please complete a Student Support Form.

Once your form has been reviewed, we will be in touch to advise you further about the next steps

Registering with a GP

Your health is very important to us, as we’re sure it is to you! Please don’t forget to register with a GP (Doctor) when you arrive in Swansea. There are loads of surgeries all over the city, but we’d recommend the following ones based on their proximity to campus:
