Residential Life Coordinators (RLCs)

Residential Life Coordinators (RLCs) are responsible for the wellbeing of students living on campus, here to support students pastorally, logistically, or assisting in general queries to help them find their way as they transition to university life.

RLCs will identify and engage with vulnerable students who may be experiencing difficulties in university to help welcome and ease them into the university student community.

RLCs are also responsible for overseeing and coordinating the development and activities led by Residential Life Assistants, delivering training and supervision to ensure they are also able to support students.

Shaina

Hi I’m Shaina. The ResLife Team is a brand-new team so I’m excited that we’ll all be learning together. The ResLife Team mixes both my experience of studying social work and my interests in community and relationship building. I am very much looking forward to seeing come to fruition on the Bay through the different students I’ll meet, the events the team and the campus will have on and just being able to invest in something that I know can bring life to Bay campus.

I like to explore Swansea. If you have any local food places to recommend, please let me know I’m always looking for new places to explore! Do say hi, I love a good yap.

Sarah

Hi, I am Sarah, I was born in Africa and lived in London. I have been in Swansea for 15 years and absolutely love it here!

I am one of the new Residential Life Coordinators and I am so excited to be starting my role at Swansea University. I will be at the beautiful Bay Campus, and I can't wait to meet the students and support them to settle into university life, and help to create a friendly, inclusive and welcoming experience for everyone.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, camping, going to festivals and exploring beautiful Wales.

Residential Life Assistants (RLAs)

Residential Life Assistants are students who work alongside the Residential Life Coordinators with experience living on campus to help create a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive community in our residences. They are here to help students feel at home, make connections, and get the most out of the university experience.
As part of the Residential Life Team, RLAs help plan and deliver a wide range of events - such as gatherings and community-building activities.
Most importantly, RLAs are a friendly, consistent presence in your accommodation. Whether you’re looking for someone to chat with, want to get involved in activities, or simply need a bit of support settling in, RLAs are a supportive presence to turn to.
RLAs would be available in our reception in the Tower Information Centre or in the Gryffudd Common room for a chat, tea, coffee and activities. Do come say hi!
